The War Mouth

The War Mouth Restaurant was one of the first businesses to call the Cottontown neighborhood home, helping to drive the revitalization of the Upper Main district of Columbia. It quickly gained popularity and is considered a staple and beloved watering hole in the Upper Main district of Columbia. The transformation of an old garage into a cozy, southern meeting place preserved many of the building's historic features, including metal barrel trusses, wood roof decking, and reinstalled wood barn doors. This renovation project was honored with the Historic Preservation Award for Excellence in Adaptive Use by the Historic Columbia Foundation and the Adaptive Reuse Citation Award by AIA Greater Columbia, further cementing its place as a cornerstone of the community’s revitalization.
